Broadhempston is a typical, pretty and peaceful South Devon village. It has an active community with a village hall, community shop run by volunteers and two good pubs, both serving food. It is ideally located, close to all that South Devon has to offer. There is no through traffic in the village which makes it ideal for escaping the tourist crowds.

In nearby Staverton travel by steam train along the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes, Sunday Lunch & Afternoon Tea available on board! Trail the river on foot by Buckfast Abbey or enjoy dinner by the riverside at The Maltsters Arms in Tuckenhay.

On Dartmoor visit moorland towns Ashburton, Buckfastleigh and Chagford, hike to Hay Tor, enjoy woodland and waterfalls at Canonteign Falls & Lydford Gorge. With horse riding, water sports, bike trails & butterflies parks it's a nature lovers paradise.

Take a scenic drive to South Hams beaches and South West Coastal Path. We love Bantham, Hope Cove & South Milton Sands. Venus Cafes serve organic local produce at Blackpool Sands & Bigbury on Sea. From Bigbury beach take the sea tractor to Burgh Island.

Totnes boasts a castle, markets & indie shops, also boat trips to Dartmouth. Visit Sharpham Vineyard or explore Dartington Hall Estate, Deer Park and shops, check out their program of events & festivals. We recommend day trips to Dartmouth & Salcombe too.
